2002 Vernon Vale Syrah

Vernon Vale Syrah

The color is inky, dark crimson. The nose is extreme. A complex compote of spice, wild berry, leather and smoky cigar box oak. The wine opens further in the glass to reveal black pepper and minty aromas. This is followed by a palate of concentration, richness, and fine-grained tannins. However, for all the enormity and concentration, this wine has incredible balance and harmony. While it’s tempting to consume this wine now, the greatest rewards will be achieved if given another five to ten years bottle age.
