Rich and soft, with distinctive pepper and gentle oak flavours, the 2000 Vernon Vale Shiraz is an ideal food wine to enjoy with char-grilled beef and lamb. A wine to enjoy now but will also develop further complexity with bottle age.

The color is inky, dark crimson. The nose is extreme. A complex compote of spice, wild berry, leather and smoky cigar box oak. The wine opens further in the glass to reveal black pepper and minty aromas. This is followed by a palate of concentration, richness, and fine-grained tannins. Unbelievable dark color with intense cherry, smoke and vanilla flavors. The tannins are smooth due to 36 months in small American oak barrels. This wine is not for the timid.

Serve with your best steak or grilled meat. 135 cases bottled May 20, 2002.

This wine was aged in new American oak for 18 months. We could go on in detail about this wine, but suffice it to say that we could add as much detail here as we'd like, including all the harvest and winemaking specifications.
